Gibran Caroline Boyceis a first-generation American based in New York City with familial roots in the Caribbean sister islands of Trinidad & Tobago. Storytelling has played a central role in Gibran’s upbringing and culture — even being named after the celebrated writer, Kahlil Gibran, who penned “The Prophet.” Outside of her typical reporting beats, Gibran is passionate about the intersection of the luxury fashion, lifestyle, and sports industries with social and environmental justice.
Gibran enjoys spending her time at Lincoln Center and Broadway, in Central Park, NYC’s history and art museums, traveling, skiing, playing tennis, and watching soccer. After spending six months in a Spanish immersion program at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) while living in Barcelona, Spain, she recently began studying French and Arabic.
For eight years, Gibran served as a student ambassador for an organization she is still highly passionate about — Charity: Water. Gibran played the violin for 14 years, taking her final bow with the Boston College Symphony Orchestra (BCSO) in Spring 2020. Her time with BSCO includes a performance at Boston Symphony Hall. Prior to BCSO, Gibran performed annually as a violinist at Lincoln Center with Gemini Symphony Youth Orchestra (GSYO) in NYC and earned her way to a level six solo violinist at the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) — the statewide youth music festival’s most difficult level.
Editor’s note: Gibran is an unabashed fan of the Oxford comma.
